June (Clifton) Thomas

June Thomas, age 92 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

 Clara June Thomas was born on June 1, 1927 in Nemaha, NE; the daughter of Chester John and Ruth Irene (Peabody) Clifton.  She graduated from Rock Port High School in Rock Port, MO with the class of 1945.  She then attended Cosmetology School in St. Joseph, MO.

 She was married to Homer Dorwin Thomas on July 24, 1946 in Hiawatha, KS and to this union two sons were born:  Jerry and Jeff.  They later divorced. June worked at Interstate Nurseries for some 30 years before retiring.  She filled orders at the nursery.  June was a member of the Linden Christian Church near Rock Port, MO.  

She is survived by son Jeff Thomas and wife Jeannie of Hamburg, IA; daughter-in-law Betsy Thomas of Rock Port, MO; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister Rose Kerner of Tecumseh, NE and sister-in-law Mercedes Clifton of Tecumseh, NE; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

June was preceded in death by her son Jerry Thomas in February of 2018, her parents and grandson, James Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.  Burial will follow at Linden Cemetery at rural Rock Port, MO.

The family will greet friends on Thursday, prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials may be given to Hamburg Rescue.
