Judith A. Finke Schreiner, age 80 of Clarinda, IA passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Judith was born on February 25, 1944 in Shenandoah, IA; the daughter of Clarence Martin and Bessie Mae (Hall Little) Whigham. She attended a country school near College Springs, IA and then South Page High School in College Springs where she graduated in 1962. After high school she attended Peru State College and received her teaching degree in music education in 1965. She later completed various college classes and earned a degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
On January 27, 1965, Judi was united in marriage to Merton R. Finke and to this union three children were born: Gretchen, Ingrid and Eric.
Judi began her career teaching in Summerfield, KS. The couple moved to Nebraska City in 1973 and shortly thereafter, her husband passed away suddenly on August 30, 1973. She began working at the Nebraska School for the Visually Handicapped in Nebraska City in the Fall of 1975 and worked there until her retirement in 2005.
She was united in marriage to Robert E. Schreiner on April 12, 1985. They shared 25 years of marriage together before his passing on May 16, 2010.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Gretchen Finke Patras (Steve) of Elkhorn, NE and Ingrid Kelley (Trevor) of Clearmont, MO; seven grandchildren: Lauren Patras of Chicago, IL, Jace Patras of Scottsdale, AZ, Jennae Patras of Des Moines, IA, Carissa Searl (Colton) of Clarinda, IA, Donevan Kelley (Carly) of Clarinda, IA, Skylar Kelley of Clarinda, IA and Samantha Finke of Papillion, NE; five great-grandchildren: Kyler Searl, Kate Searl, Koe Kelley, Nora Kelley and Lux Parrish; step-children: Kelly Schreiner of Carter Lake, IA, Kris Lutz of Omaha, NE and Rob Schreiner (Sally) of Nebr. City, NE; six step-grandchildren: Elise Lutz, Olivia Lutz, Clayton Lutz, Bryce Schreiner, ReAnn Schreiner and Tori Schreiner; sisters: Carolyn Carpenter of Maryville, MO, Phyllis Van Fosson (Garth) of Braddyville, IA and Linda Burgett (Larry) of Newton, IA; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
Judi was preceded in death by her husbands, her son Eric Finke; son-in-law Pat Lutz; her parents and siblings: Dean Whigham (Elaine), Jean Clark (Dale), Martha Franzen (Glenn), Howard Whigham, Delores (Bob) Shull and David Whigham.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
