Joyce Ellen Hawk

Joyce Ellen (Mattice) Hawk, age 84, of Shenandoah (formerly Farragut), passed away on March 9, 2024 at the Accura Heathcare of Shenandoah.

Joyce was born on November 21, 1939 in Johnson County, IA, the daughter of William R. and Elsie B. (Allen) Cross. She was raised in Tarkio where she attended school.

She was united in marriage to William A. “Buck” Mattice, Jr. on August 8, 1957. He preceded her in death in 1991. She later married Raymond Hawk on April 13, 1996 at the Christian Fellowship in Shenandoah.

She worked for some 21 years at Eaton’s in Shenandoah as a machine operator.

Joyce is survived by her son, Allen (Stephanie) Mattice of Tarkio, MO; grandchildren:  Kelly Burnett of Tarkio, MO, Tammy Koenig of Texas; Kristine (Rob) Hobbs and Colt (Constance) Loftis; numerous great-grandchildren, a sister Sharon (Ted) Johnson of Farragut, IA; other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Buck and Raymond; a daughter Gayle Bradley and her husband Ronald, infant daughter Cheryl; granddaughter Linda Gayle; step-father Roy Geyer; and brothers Roy, Jerry and Gary.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.  Burial will follow at the Hamburg Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Thursday (3/14) from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
