John Michael Schreiter

John M. Schreiter, age 59 of Nebraska City passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.

John Michael Schreiter was born on August 20, 1964 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Robert F. and Mildred M. (Kreifels) Schreiter.  He grew up and attended school in Nebraska City, graduating from Lourdes Central Catholic with the Class of 1982.  John then attended college at Northwest Missouri State for a year and later transferred to Peru State College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in 1987.

He was united in marriage to Diane Kay Viox on November 9, 1984 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City and to this union two girls were born:  Rebecca and Michelle.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Diane Schreiter of Nebr. City; daughters:  Rebecca Archer (Jerrod) of Nebr. City and Michelle Davis (Kelton) of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren:  Delilah Schreiter and Summer Archer; siblings:  Tom Schreiter of Bangkok, Thailand, Mary Anne Liesemeyer (Tom) of Nebr. City, Jean Taylor of San Antonio, TX, Jim Schreiter (Marta) of Wimberley, TX; brothers in law:  Alan Viox (Linda) of Nebr. City and Lynn Viox (Vicki) of Norfolk, NE; other family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mildred Schreiter, a brother Fr. Robert Schreiter and his father and mother-in-law Fred and Ruth Viox..

Private Family Graveside Services will be held at St. Benedict’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (6/14) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.

A memorial fund is established for his grandchildren, Delilah and Summer.
