Joann (Mattice) Massengale

Joann Massengale, age 81 of Nebraska City passed away on Friday; Sept. 30, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City.

Eva Joann (Mattice) Massengale was born on April 26, 1941 at Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Chester L. and Jessie M. (Webster) Mattice.  She attended school in Hamburg and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1959.

She was united in marriage to Roger E. Massengale on May 5, 2000 in Nebraska City.

Joann worked at the former Morton House Kitchens for some 16 years.  She also worked at Arnie's Bagelicious, Excel, Pendleton Sewing Factory, Shop E-Z (Speedee Mart) and most recently at Casey's in Nebr. City.  She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary and was a loving wife, mom, grandma and sister!

She is survived by her husband Roger Massengale of Nebr. City; children:  Delphena Pringle (James) of Virginia Beach, VA, Elizabeth "Lisa" Rainey of Northboro, IA, Toni Ann Byfield (Richard) of Auburn, NE, Tom Massengale of Fallon, NV, Carla Mae Sanders of Fallon, NV, Blaine Massengale (Sharlo) of Longview, TX and Alicia Kay Crow (Brian) of Chaney, WA; grandchildren:  
Deaun Click (Kevin), David Wampler Jr. (Kristina), Chris Rainey (Mégan), Stephanie Richardson (James), Courtney Rainey, Dylan “Buster” Flock, Sebastian “Sammy” Byfield and Jullian “Jo Jo” Byfield; numerous great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; siblings:  Chester Mattice, Jr. (Gloria) of Hamburg, IA, Karen Martinache of Monroe, IA and Linda "Joy" Owen (Larry) of Nebr. City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Concension Soriano, her parents Chester and Jessie, a sister Evelyn Beason, brother Roy Mattice and son-in-law Bud Rainey.

Services for Joann Massengale will be held Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 10:30 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City; burial will follow in the Linden Cemetery near Rock Port, MO.

The family will greet friends Tuesday (Oct. 4) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.

Memorials may be given to the family in her memory.
