Jimmy L. Miller, age 75 of rural Westboro, MO passed away on Tuesday; January 23, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy Lee Miller was born on June 11, 1948 in Fortescue, MO; the son of Otto Leonard and Kathryn Elizabeth (Hendrix) Miller. He attended school and graduated from the Hamburg High School with the Class of 1966. Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and honorably and faithfully served his country until his discharge in 1973.
He was united in marriage to Diana Lynn Sheib on August 31, 1974 in Rock Port, MO and they shared over 49 years of love and their lives together.
In 1977, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until 1991. Jimmy was career military and in total dedicated over 22 years of his life to his country. After his retirement from the service, he worked for many years as a Postal Clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Plattsburg, MO. He later served as the Postmaster at both the Riverton, IA and Imogene, IA Post Offices.
Jimmy was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. (Disabled American Veterans) and a long-time member of the Eagles Club in Nebraska City.
He is survived by his wife Diana Mille rof Westboro, MO; sons: Russell Dale Law of Liberty, MO, Cory Lee Miller (Cyndee) of Turney, MO and James Allen Miller (Brenna) of Nebr. City, NE; ten grandchildren: Blake Gardner, Triston Miller, Ryan Jones, Maycee Gardner, Sophie Brumbaugh, Cole Barton, Logan Miller, Brooke Barton, Kadan Miller and Landan Miller; a great-granddaughter Stella Brumbaugh; brothers: Otto Miller, Jr. (Diane Manthei) of Nebr. City, Bobby Miller of Branson, MO and Richard Miller (Linda) of O’Fallon, MO; father-in-law and mother-in-law Silas and Dona Sheib of Nebr. City, sisters-in-law: Sally Sheib of Nebr. City and Debra Duvall (Jack) of Springfield, OR; special “brothers” and “sisters”: Russell Lee Sears (Janice) of Crete, NE, John Sears (Addie) of Mustang, OK, Donny Sears (Linda) of Hamburg, IA, Delores “Dee” Norstadt (Dale), Sharon Moyer (Kyle) and Karen Sears all of Nebr. City; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Mitch Miller and brother-in-law Roger Sheib.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday (Jan. 27) at 10:30 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City; burial with complete military honors will be at Wyuka Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Gude Mortuary.
