Jimmie G. Bassinger, age 92 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Jimmie Gene Bassinger was born on October 27, 1930 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Franklin Dewey and Elsie Kathryn (Kleineweber) Bassinger. He grew up and attended country school southeast of Nebraska City at District #35; which was built in 1870 and is the current location of their home.
On October 27, 1951-his 21st birthday-he was united in marriage to Lois Ann Behrends at Christ Lutheran (Delaware) Church in rural Syracuse, NE and to this union three children were born: Jimmie Wayne Jr., Rockie Duane and Connie Dorene.
Over the years Jim farmed, worked for the Nebraska City Street Department and the Otoe County Roads Department, Town and Country Supply and Tri-State Construction. His family was the center of his life and he loved them dearly. He especially enjoyed his many camping trips to Indian Cave State Park with family and especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and going to country music festivals. He was known for telling stories and jokes and his infectious laugh!
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lois Bassinger of Nebr. City; children: Jimmie Wayne Bassinger, Jr. (Susan) of Syracuse, NE; Rockie Bassinger (Millie) of Nebr. City and Connie Shallenberger (Steve) of Nebr. City; seven grandchildren: Chad Bassinger (Jenny), Mandy Bell (Brad), Heather Liggett (Dan), Julie Conner (Travis), Tyler Bassinger (Lauren), Traci Dunham (Brandon) and Lisa Stanton (Dean); 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; other family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and sisters: Arwilda Bennett, Ruby Conrad, Lucille Teegarden, Sadona Shefferd and Irene Williams.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City. Following the committal services at Wyuka Cemetery, there will be lunch held at the Eagles Club in Nebraska City.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the mortuary.
Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
