Jeanene F. (Jones) Pummel

Jeanene F. Pummel, age 62 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Jeanene was born on August 29, 1957 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of A.J. and Dorothy Lee (Tuton) Jones.  She attended school in Union and Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1976.

On September 12, 1976 she was united in marriage to Michael D. “Mike” Pummel in Union, NE and to this union three children were born:  Shannon, Cory and Mary.

Jeanene worked for the Nebraska City Street Department for some 17 years and was very active in her community.  She volunteered for the Nebraska City Rescue Squad and served as the Chief for several years.  She was also a very active member of Cornerstone Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband  of 43 years, Mike Pummel of Nebr. City; three children:  Shannon Bolton (Gregory) of Nebr. City, Cory Pummel (Gabrielle) of Auburn, NE and Mary Clark (Michael) of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren:  Isaah, Alexis, Caitlin and Madison Bolton; Logan, Macey and Elijah Dean Pummel; Kyra, Jordan, and Izabella Clark;; one great-grandchild Paisley Bolton and another due in October; her mom Dorothy Jones of Nebr. City; siblings:  Gaille Brown of Union, NE, Arley J. Jones of Nebr. City and Dana Brink (Aaron) of Nebr. City; other family and friends.

Jeanene was preceded in death by her dad A.J. Jones on July 15, 1995 and brother Robert Jones, Sr. on Aug. 3, 2012

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday; June 6, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Church west of Nebraska City.  In accordance with the church guidelines, masks are required for those attending the services. 

Memorials may be directed to Nebraska City Rescue Squad or Cancer Research.
