Janet Schutte Obituary
Janet L. (Gruber) Schutte, age 68 of Nebr. City passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.
Janet was born on January 19, 1950 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City; the daughter of Theodore Charles and Lois Jean (Shields) Gruber.
Janet attended school at Lourdes Central Catholic and graduated with the class of 1968. She then went on to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where she received her teaching degree. While attending college, she was a member of Delta-Delta-Delta Sorority.
After graduating from college, she began teaching at Pius X High School in Lincoln. She taught there for four years, until her health began to decline. She was later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at the age of 26. Janet fought a brave battle against her MS for 42 years. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and her beautiful smile.
She is survived by her sister Pam Brewer and husband Tom of Lincoln, NE, brother Nick Gruber and wife Therese of Nebr. City, NE; five nieces and nephews: Judd Brewer and wife Michelle of Sumrall, MS, Kyle Brewer and wife Justina of Lincoln, NE, Kallie Gertsch and husband Guy of Lincoln, NE, Jarrod Gruber and wife Shelsea of Gulf Breeze, FL and Lauren Westwood and husband Ben of Gulf Breeze, FL; ten great nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father in 2005 and her mother in 2011.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Fr. Mark Cyza officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.
A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the mortuary prior to the service.
Memorials may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society - Nebraska Chapter.
