Janet M. Frana

Janet M. Frana, age 71 of Nebraska City passed away on Thursday morning; Dec. 30, 2021 at her home after a 3 ½ year courageous battle with cancer

Janet Marie Frana was born on Dec. 31, 1949 in Nebraska City, NE: the daughter of Raymond Andrew and Helen Josephine (Sloup) Frana.  She attended school at Lourdes Central in Nebr. City and later  attended the Nebr. City High School where she graduated with the Class of 1968.

After graduation, she attended Peru State College earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  She then taught the 6th grade at Hamburg Public Schools for a year and later began working at the Nebraska City Medical Clinic as their transcriptionist.  She began her career at the Otoe County Treasurer’s Office in 1978 and worked there for 33 years until her retirement in 2011.

Janet was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church and Christian Mothers.

She is survived by her siblings:  Leroy Frana (Pam) of Papillion, NE, Marlene Frana of Nebr. City and David Frana of Nebr. City; cousins and other extended family and many friends.    She was preceded in death by her father on Aug. 3, 1989 and her mother on Aug. 18, 2007.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday (1/4/22) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City; burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday (1/3/22) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City followed by a rosary/prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Church, Lourdes Central School or the American Cancer Society in her memory.
