Jane B. (Walters) Maybee

Jane B. Maybee, age 81 of Nebraska City passed away on Tuesday evening; January 7, 2020 at her home.

She was born on May 25, 1938 near Thurman, IA; the daughter of Thomas Lawson and Florence (Sheard) Walters.  She was one of 12 children in the family.  

She was united in marriage to Leo Ray Maybee on March 19, 1959 in Nebraska City, NE.  He preceded her in death on April 30, 2003.  At a young age, Jane worked at American Meter Company.  She then devoted her life to care giving and took care of numerous people during her working years.  She enjoyed cooking and made many wonderful meals over the years.

She is survived by her children:  Tina Swartz (Gene) of Joplin, MO, Rick Maybee of Gold Canyon, AZ, David Maybee of Nebr. City, Gene Royer of Omaha, NE, Jody Maybee (Pam) of Nebr. City, Kelly Sedlacek of Newton, IA and Brad Maybee (Angela) of Nebr. City; 21 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; siblings:  Bill Walters (Kathryn), Donnie Walters (Sheila) and Patty Ried (Wayne) all of Nebr. City; Barb Johnson (Jerry) of Julian, NE; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.

In addition to her husband Leo, she was preceded in death by a daughter Kim Baber, an infant daughter Jacqueline, siblings:  Charlie, Bobby, Leland, Gerald, Steve, Susie and Oramae as well as her parents.

Funeral Services will be held Monday (Jan. 13) at 2:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating; burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery.

The family will greet friends on Sunday (Jan. 12) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Gude Mortuary.
