Jacob Paap Obituary

Jacob D. Paap, age 44 passed away on Sunday; October 26, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Jacob Daniel Paap was born on June 1, 1981 in Lincoln, NE; the son of James Allen “Jim” Paap and LoReeta Jo Baker.

Jake grew up in Malcolm Nebraska. He attended school in Malcolm, NE and later attended Lincoln East High School.  Following high school, he lived in a variety of places including Colorado, Oregon and New Mexico and most recently in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Growing up he enjoyed playing outdoors and boating with family and friends. He was person who insisted on being happy. Jake loved pushing the limits and lived an adventurous life with many twists and turns. He was enormously loving and showered his love and propensity for having fun with family and friends. Loyal is an adjective often heard from his friends as they gathered around him this past week sharing stories and laughs. Jake was blessed with a large, loving family.  He loved his Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, his cousins and their children were cherished.

Jake elected to be an organ donor and it is the greatest hope of our family that his joyously happy, generous, kind spirit be infused into the recipients and they live long lives spreading joy, kindness and love in the world.

Jake was so loved and will be tremendously missed. His was a bright light gone far too soon. Jake intensely disliked mournful funerals and asked there be no funeral rather his life be celebrated in a laughing, happy gathering. A date to be set in the future. Please, when you think of Jake smile or laugh.

He is survived by his mother LoReeta Baker of Ft. Collins, CO, his father Jim Paap and wife Susan of Lincoln, NE; siblings:  Tanner Paap of Milford, NE, Chance Paap of Lincoln and Shasta Paap of Bend, OR; niece Aspen McCoy of Bend, OR; maternal grandparents:  Dr. Harry and LoRee Baker of Nebraska City; aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Allen Paap Jr and Phyllis Paap, beloved cousins, Frankie Rae Baker and Hunter James Baker.

The family requests blood donations, in Jake's memory, in lieu of flowers.
