Jack Spidell Obituary
Jack L. Spidell, age 73 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, NE.
Jack was born on July 31, 1945 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of John Aaron and Evelyn Margaret (Harl) Spidell. He attended school in Nebraska City and later entered the United States Navy on June 6, 1963. During his time in the US Navy, he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1964.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen Marie Sheridan on September 30, 1967 in Nebraska City. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2011. Jack worked at various jobs over the years, including doing painting, welding and other odd jobs. Most recently, he worked at Mary’s Café for some 15 years.
Jack is survived by his children: Sheri M. McCall of Auburn, NE, Michael P. Speer of Omaha, NE, Brian L. Spidell and friend Leslie Shutz of Glenshaw, PA, Sandra L. Spidell of Nebr. City, NE and Laura J. Reese and husband Dave of Nebr. City, NE; grandchildren: Tonya Schreiner and husband Kevin, Austin and Zachary Speer, Shande, Trenton and Emma Spidell, Darrick, Brady and Brett Minner, Jeremy Baker and Jaxson Reese; great-grandchildren: Izayah, Mycah, Kyerrah, Marquese, Damaurri, Carter, Jayce, Cail, Rowan, Maekenlee and Rylee; a sister Mary Starner of Nebraska City; other family and many friends.
In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter Evelyn Louise “Ev” Spidell on
Feb. 6, 2005, grandson Justin McCall on July 15, 2013 and brother Jim Spidell on August 25, 1962.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Corey Miller officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Wyuka Cemetery with military honors.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
