Open visitation will take place from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City prior to the visitation with the Haupt family at Bethel Church from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Jack G. Haupt, age 91 of rural Union, NE passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Syracuse, NE surrounded by his family.
Jack George Haupt was born on December 23, 1933 on the family farm north of Dunbar, NE; the son of Roy Wesley and Lena (Clark) Haupt. He attended District 81 school outside of Dunbar, NE and then attended school at Nebraska City High School where he graduated with the Class of 1951.
Jack attended a dance at the Pla Mor Ballroom in Emerald, NE and met his future wife, Loreen Joan Weber. They married eight weeks later on November 8, 1953 in Council Bluffs, IA and danced their way through their lives together. To this union four children were born: Albert, Carl, Vicki and John. In their early years they lived near Nebraska City and for several years in California. Jack will be known for his years in California (where he worked on the first missile shot into space), working with horses, and milking cows for Roy Rogers. They moved back to a farm near Union in 1958, and with Loreen by his side, Jack began a lifetime of farming, a job he deeply loved.
He was very active in his community where he was a member of the Eagles, the Elks, Farm Bureau and the Arbor Day Foundation. Jack also served with the Union Volunteer Fire Department, was a big supporter of 4H and F.F.A. and coached many ball teams over the years. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and those friends he hasn’t met yet.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Albert Haupt Sr. (Brenda) of Otoe, NE, Carl Haupt (Debra) of Union, NE, Vicki Kastens of Nebraska City, NE and John Haupt (Beth) of Union, NE; 10 grandchildren: Natasha Haupt, George Haupt (Lacy), Henry Haupt (Cassidy), Cory Haupt, Heather Cook (Chance), Victoria Osten (Cody), Ben Kastens (Felicia), Bryan Kastens (Kaitlin), Amanda Meier (sp. friend Chad Jindra), Anita Fruechtenicht (Beau); great-grandchildren: Karlee Haupt, Gracie Haupt, Ruth Haupt, Jax Scharp, Harleigh Haupt, Peyton Haupt, Alexandria Haupt, Celeste Cook, Chael Cook, Kyler Osten, Madison Densberger, Levi Kastens, Killian Kastens, Sebastian Walters, Damien Walters, Owen Walters, Anastasia Walters, Logan Walters, Eva VanRenan, Aniston Fruechtenicht, Cameron Fruechtenicht, Embree Fruechtenicht and Sterling Fruechtenicht; a brother William Haupt of Kansas City, KS; other family and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Loreen, on November 21, 2021; grandson Albert Haupt Jr, son-in-law Barry Kastens, parents Roy and Lena Haupt; sisters: Dorothy Huffman (Robert) and Beverly Leckenby (Richard); brother Donald Haupt (Virginia); sisters-in-law: Vera Haupt, Lois Haupt, and Marcella Bulin (Frank); father and mother-in-law Albert and Mollie (Sieber) Weber.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Bethel Church in Nebr. City. Burial will be in Cowles Hill Cemetery west of Nebraska City. The family will host a lunch at Bethel Church following the burial and food donations may be taken to the church.
There will be visitation at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebr. City from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday (9/12) and the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bethel Church in Nebr. City.
Memorials may be given to Cowles Hill Cemetery in his memory.
