Inez E. Moyer, 88, of Hamburg, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Inez Earline (Thompson) Moyer was born on July 14, 1937, in Nebraska City, NE, the daughter of Earl and Goldie (Bird) Thompson. She grew up in the Nebraska City area and attended country school.
She was united in marriage to Franklin Moyer on April 5, 1956, in Hamburg, IA. To this union, six children were born: Gaylon, Rayla, Peggy, Rick, Steve, and Shelly. In addition to raising her children, Inez held a variety of jobs. She worked in various capacities at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, including housekeeping, nurse’s aide, home health, and cardiac rehab. She also ran an in-home daycare for many years in Sidney, IA.
She was an active member of the churches she attended, volunteering in any way she could and teaching Sunday School.
She is survived by her children: Rayla Thompson of Lansing, KS; Peggy (Rod) Wilson of Hamburg, IA; Rick (Gail) Moyer of Green Valley, AZ; Steve Moyer of Hamburg, IA; and Shelly (Rob) Needham of Cook, NE; 27 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Melanie of Hamburg , IA; sister-in-law Doris Moyer of Sidney, IA, many beloved nieces and nephews whom she cherished dearly, as well as other family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moyer; son, Gaylon Moyer; her parents, Earl and Goldie Thompson; sister, Dorothy Moyer, and son-in-law, Darrell Thompson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at United Trinity Church in Hamburg, IA, with Pastor Courtney Dake officiating. A private family burial will take place at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
