Hunter Baker Obituary

Hunter James Baker was born in Nebraska City to Randi Baker on December 26, 2002. Hunter was Randi’s first-born child, a first grandchild, a first great-grandchild, and a first nephew, he has always been something special. Hunter graduated from Nebraska City High School in May, 2021 and had plans to marry his girlfriend, Payton, this summer and attend Missouri Welding Institute this fall.

Raised by parents Randi and Shawn, Hunter was blessed to be a big brother to Stryder, Storm, and Timber. Half siblings Lily and Anakin as well as step siblings Jaycee and Tajia helped to complete Hunter’s family.  With a vivid imagination and a wild but loving heart, he could spin tales and create fascinating story lines and theories.   Hunter is deeply loved by many.

Stryder has many memories of playing with his friend, and brother, Hunter at their old house. From playing in the creek, to riding bikes, and playing with the neighbors they were always having fun just being boys! Hunter paved the way for Stryder as the first born and he’d help his younger brother with his homework when needed.

Storm could be called a mini-Hunter. They were best buds and Storm enjoyed wearing clothes like his oldest brother, listening to music Hunter liked, and playing video games together as often as possible.

Hunter was sure to tell everyone before Timber was born that he would run away if she was a boy. You can imagine his joy when he got to meet her and hold her for the first time. He sure was proud of his little sister.

Hunter was a protector. When they were young and Tajia was scared of her basement bedroom, Hunter would come sleep on the couch near her to make her feel safe. He was also a good target for tomatoes and Tajia once threw them at him from a car while he was walking home. Music blaring in his ears, he never even flinched!

Grandparents Ross (Poppy) and Pam (Grammy) played a big role in his life and Poppy was proud to teach him to say, “I’m Hunter Baker, pleased to meet you.” When he shook someone’s hand.   Aunts Sierra (CC) and Whitni (WeeWee) are deeply proud of Hunter. The bond he shared with CC was incredible and extended to her daughter, Sycily, who thought of Hunter more as a brother than a cousin. Younger cousins, Crew (Sierra) and Piper (Whitni) will be told how much Hunter loved them and will grow up with him as part of their lives.  Grandparents Mark and Brenda Meade, aunt Shannon and cousin Jocelyn all loved Hunter in a big way, and, in true Hunter fashion, the love was reciprocated.   Biological father, Seth Barton, and grandparents (late) Kurt and Robin Poggemeyer will mourn this loss deeply as will Great Grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was a loving boyfriend to Payton and loyal friend to many.  Everything about this boy was unexpected, as was his passing.  There is a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will continue to be well loved here on earth.

~I’ll love you forever,

I’ll like you for always

As long as I’m living

My Crazy Baby you’ll be. ~
