Helen L (Hinze) Ladd

Helen L. Ladd, age 90 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg.

Helen L. Ladd was born on March 13, 1932 on a farm west of Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Otto and Marie (Anderson) Hinze.  She grew up and attended school in Hamburg, graduating from Hamburg High School with the Class of 1949.  Helen did Secretarial work until 1981, when she took over her father’s farming operation and continued with this until her death. 

Helen married Harold Barton in 1982 and he preceded her in death in 1991.  She later married Robert Ladd on September 14, 1996 and he also preceded her in death in 2012.

She was a member of the Grape Community Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Hamburg United Methodist Church.

Helen is survived by her son Rodney Farley; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; other family and friends.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Marie Hinze and her grandparents, Al and Sadie Anderson.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023 at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IA with Pastor Courtney Dake officiating.

Memorials may be given to Hamburg United Methodist Church or the Hamburg Fire and Rescue.
