Harriett N Griffey, age 82 of Farragut, Iowa passed away on April 7, 2019 at Windsor Manor in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Harriett Norene Parkison was born August 11, 1936 in Riverton, Iowa; the daughter of Kenneth Wilbur and Edith Iva (Jones) Parkison. She attended school in Riverton and graduated from the Riverton High School in 1954. In 1958, she earned a teaching degree from Peru State Teachers College in Peru Nebraska.

Harriett taught school in Riverton and Farragut, Iowa, in El Paso, Texas, and again in Farragut. On July 23, 1961, Harriett was united in marriage to Max William Griffey in Riverton, and to this union two daughters were born: Ronda and Rebecca “Becky”.

Harriett was an army wife, a farm wife, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a teacher. She loved the farm. Teaching—especially teaching music—was her passion. She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Northboro, Iowa, the Rebekah Lodge in Riverton and a member of the St. Cecilia Choir for many years.

She is survived by daughters: Ronda Priebe and husband Jim of Indianola, Iowa and Becky Clevenger and husband Eric of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren: Raymond “RJ” Priebe, Jorden Priebe Cole and husband Adam, Kristen Clevenger, April Campbell and husband Brad, and Erin O’Neal and husband Mike; six great-grandchildren: Eleonora Priebe Cole, Carder Campbell, Ian Campbell, Lane O’Neal, Gracelyn O’Neal, and Reed O’Neal; brother-in-law Marlan Tiemann of Westboro, Missouri and sister-in-law Peg Griffey of Lenexa, Kansas; other family and friends.

Harriett was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Max Griffey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Northboro, Iowa with Pastor Kurt Hoover officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Iowa.

The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to service time.

Memorials may be given to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or St. Croix Hospice.
