Harold Johnson Obituary

Harold H. Johnson, age 76 of Omaha, NE passed away early Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the Douglas County Care Center in Omaha, NE.

Harold was born on April 23, 1944 in Valentine, NE; the son of Henry F. and Edna L. (Epke) Johnson.  He grew up in Valentine and attended school in Valentine and Ralston, NE.

He entered the United States Army on January 24, 1963 and served two consecutive tours of duty.  He was discharged from his first tour on April 4, 1965 and immediately reenlistment on April 5, 1965.  He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on April 20, 1968.  He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the U.S. Army Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge.

On April 4, 1992 he was united in marriage to Susan Arleen Manchester in Papillion, NE.  She preceded him in death in 2005.  He was a truck driver for many years, delivering various types of freight.  Harold was a former member of the Moose Lodge.  

He is survived by a sister Jean Johnson and husband Bruce of Ainsworth, NE; sister-in-law Betty Johnson of Broken Bow, NE; nieces Connie Jones and Anna Sasse who were his acting Guardians; other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his wife Susan, he was preceded in death by his father Henry in 1989, his mother Edna in 1994; sister Janice (Johnson) Stehlik in 2017 and brother Jerry Johnson in 2019.

He will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Valentine, NE in July of 2020 with military honors.
