Harlan Holliman Obituary

Harlan E. Holliman, age 86 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Friday; Jan. 7, 2022 at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg.

Harlan E. Holliman was born on March 16, 1935 at the family farm on McKissick Island Nebraska; the youngest child of Hubert and Clara (Mead) Holliman.
He attended the Island country school and later Hamburg High School where he graduated with the Class of 1953.
Harlan was united in marriage to Marilyn Coslett; and to this union three children were born:  Dennis, Randy and Susan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Randy Holliman, grandson Jeffrey Holliman, brother Sam and a sister Lucille Raymond.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Hamburg, IA; son Dennis (Janice) Holliman of Hamburg;  daughter Susan (Sam) Carter of Atlanta, GA; a sister Mary Lou Murray of Eureka, CA; grandchildren:  Erin (Brian) Perry of Elkhorn, NE, Celia and Ty Carter of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren:  Eli and Lydia Perry; sisters-in-law:  Lois Whitehead of Sidney, IA and Linda (Bill) Petry of Ambler, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

In 1976, Harlan and Marilyn purchased and moved to a farm in the Locust Grove Community south of Farragut, IA.  Upon retirement, they moved back to Hamburg.  Playing football with his teammates and friends for the Hamburg Wildcats was one of his fondest school memories.  Boating on the Lake of Ozarks was a favorite memory and he often wondered how many kids he taught to water ski.  Harlan served on the Hamburg Fire Dept. for many years, owned his own plane and loved to fly.  He loved farming and tending the land but his greatest love was his family!

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday (Jan. 11) at 2:00 p.m. at United Trinity Church in Hamburg with Pastor Courtney Dake officiating.   Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.
