Gordon C. Olis

Gordon C. Olis, age 80 of Nebraska City passed away on Tuesday; December 30, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.

Gordon Charles Olis was born on July 25, 1945 in Detroit, MI; the son of Edward and Josephine (Casper) Olis.  He attended school in Detroit and graduated from the Trombly Trade High School.

He was united in marriage to Janice Carol Lyerla on September 5, 1965 in Detroit, MI.  Gordon and Janice moved to Nebraska City in 1975 from St. Clair Shores, MI and have made their home here since that time.

Gordon worked for some 31 years at Tri Pac (Triangle Pacific) in Auburn, NE.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, crossword puzzles and football; especially Michigan Wolverines Football. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Janice Olis of Nebraska City; children:  Debra Ross (fiance’ Roger Lutz) of Kingley, IA, Dale Olis (Morgan) of Springfield, NE and Dana Olis of Omaha, NE: seven grandchildren:  Jeffrey Olis, Jamie Baker (Justin), Jared Olis (Karla), Corey Ross, Bailey Olis, Charlie Olis and Eric Heronimus; eight great-grandchildren:  Brianna, Becca, Brayden and Boston Baker and Konner, Jace, Kaelyn and Jax Olis; a brother James Olis (Patricia) of Rochester Hills, MI; sister Barbara Hunt (Junior) of Warren, MI; other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughters:  Donna Olis and Denice Olis; granddaughters:  Tanya Olis and Kelsie Ross, parents Edward and Josephine Olis, a sister Elaine Lewandowski (Myron), and father and mother-in-law:  Loran and Mildred Lyerla.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday; January 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City.  The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
