Gloria Jean (Dickman) Guthals

Gloria J. Guthals, age 89 of rural Union, NE passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Gloria Jean (Dickman) Guthals was born on February 5, 1937 at the family home in rural Nehawka, NE; the daughter of Henry Julius and Erma Agnes (Eaton) Dickman.  Gloria attended country school and then Union High School where she graduated with the Class of 1954.  After high school she attended Lincoln School of Commerce.

On February 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to Harry Keith Guthals in Union, NE and to this union two children were born: Marcia and Steve.  Keith preceded her in death on June 13, 2007.

She worked as a telephone operator in Nebraska City for a short time and then helped her husband on the farm, in addition to raising her children.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and her greatest joy and happiness came from being with her family!

Gloria is survived by her children: Marcia Rulla and husband Larry of Joplin, MO and Steve Guthals and wife Lisa of rural Union, NE; three grandchildren: Jason Rulla of Paris, TN, Austin Guthals of Union, NE and Kari Mammen (Chris) of Plymouth, NE; six great-grandchildren: Emma Ridings (Caleb) of Kansas City, MO, Abby Melvin,  Cannon Melvin,  Madeline Melvin all of Chesapeake, VA, Alexis Mammen of Plymouth, NE and Chase Guthals of Union, NE; brothers: Don Dickman (Beth) of Lincoln, NE and Dennis Dickman (Julia) of Lincoln, NE; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Janna Melvin and Dan Rulla as well as her parents.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebr. City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fri. (4/10) at Marshall Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
