Gladys Demanett Obituary

Gladys Marie Demanett, age 83, of Randolph, IA passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at her home.


Gladys was born on June 30, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA; the daughter of Carl and Twila (Vanosdall) Stanger. She later went to live with her maternal grandparents on their farm in Greeley, NE where Gladys attended school, graduating from Greeley High School with the class of 1959.


On May 18, 1959, Gladys was united in marriage to Thomas Allen New, and to this union four children were born: Jane, Jean, Lisa, and Thomas. Thomas preceded her in death on November 11, 1964. She later met Larry Demanett at Henry Fields in Shenandoah, and the two were married on horseback on October 23, 1977 at Waubonsie State Park. To this union, two children were born: Jodi and Jamie.


The family made their home in Randolph, IA, where Gladys enjoyed working on her yard. She was an animal lover and spent many years breeding and raising horses and dogs. She was a member of the Mills County Saddle Club and the Midwest Trail Riders Club, going on many weekend trips riding the different trails. She worked for many years for Southwest Iowa Transportation Association (SWITA) driving a bus for appointments, school, and other events. She also worked at O’Reilly Auto Parts and Henry Fields.


She is survived by her children: Jane New of Messina, IA, Lisa Jo Bogensberger (John) of Alabama, Thomas A. New (Beth) of Tabor, IA, Jodi Demanett (Nicolas Garmoe) of Glenwood, IA, and Jamie Holliday (Dustin) of Tyler, TX; grandchildren:  Skyler Camacho (Erin Hoffman), Trenton Camacho, Steven Graham, Michelle Poole, Amber Fraser, Christina Gunnerson (Michael), Destiny New, Graydon New, Symone Tappan (Christian), Brooklyn Handley, Brayden Hogue and Ana Holliday; 15 great- grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; siblings: Leslie Currey and Virginia Hartsell; other family and friends.


She was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Allen New and Larry Demanett; daughter Jean New; grandchildren Jeromy Ford and Shawn Darnell; brother Harold Stanger; other extended family.


A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 17th , 2024 from 1 to 3pm and the Randolph Community Fire Station.


Memorials may be directed to Wild Hearts and Wild Horses in Glenwood, IA.
