Geneva Lottie Mae (McCracken) Ailes

Geneva Ailes, age 91 of Nebraska City passed away Monday evening, January 30, 2023 at Prestige Care Center in Nebraska City.

Geneva was born on August 25, 1931 at Payne Junction, IA; the daughter of James F. and Lula Mae (Smith) McCracken.  She grew up and attended school in Payne Junction.  Geneva married Arthur L. Waring on February 3, 1947 and they had four children:  Bobby Dean (stillborn), Wanda Jean, David Earl and Sheila Diane.  She later married Verlin R. Ailes on April 12, 1961 in Nebr. City, NE.

She worked at the former Pendleton Sewing Factory in Nebraska City for some 25 years and later at the former Nebraska City Manor in housekeeping where she retired from after many years of work.  She also cleaned houses for many years.  Geneva was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 60 years and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children:  Wanda Jean Jennings of St. Joseph, MO and Sheila Diane Baur (Greg) of Nebraska City, NE; nine grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 33 great-great grandchildren; other family and friends.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husbands, a stillborn son Bobby Dean Waring and son David Earl Waring, her parents and siblings:  James McCracken, Henry Arthur McCracken and Jaunita Thornton.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Nebr. City with Rev. Ever Mudambanuki officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Outreach Program.
