Gary E. Walker, age 80 of Sidney, IA passed away on Monday evening; February 3, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Gary Eugene Walker was born on December 18, 1944 in Hamburg, IA; the son of George Alfred and Winifred June (Rawlins) Walker. He attended country school near Malvern, IA through the 6th grade and completed the 7th and 8th grades in Thurman, IA. He attended high school in Sidney, IA and graduated from the Sidney High School with the Class of 1963.
He was united in marriage to Donna Carol Driever on June 5, 1965 at the Presbyterian Church in Sidney, IA and three sons were born to this union: Todd, Trent and Terry.
Shortly after graduation, Gary began working at the American Meter Company in Nebraska City until 1970 when he began farming. He farmed until 1979 and then began his career at Eaton Manufacturing in Shenandoah, IA until 2009 when he retired after 30 years of employment. Gary was a long-time member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department since 1979, a member of the Jaycees, Sidney Booster Club, Waubonsie Saddle Club and the Sidney Presbyterian Church. In his younger years, he was an active participant in 4H and showed cattle and horses.
He is survived by his wife Donna Walker of Sidney, IA; sons: Todd Walker (Sylvia) of Temple, TX and their daughter Marissa Walker (Sean Germino) of Dallas, TX; Trent Walker (Sandra) of Glenwood, IA and their two sons Christopher Severn (Danelle) and children Ava, Theo and Ellie of Kingsley, IA and Caleb Severn (Shelby Klein) of Glenwood, IA; Terry Walker (Carly) of Snyder, NE and their son Carsten Walker (Kiera Stafford) of Snyder, NE; niece Jodi Galindo (James) of Monahans, TX and nephew Marvin Hill (Nancy) of Del Rio, TX; other extended family and friends.
Gary was preceded in death by sister Nancy Hill Prime in July of 2011, his parents, fathers-in-law and mother-in-law.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Victory Life Church in Sidney, IA. Burial will follow at the Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, IA.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (2/7) at the church in Sidney, IA.
Memorials may be given to Sidney Fire and Rescue.
