Gary Stutheit Obituary

Gary Lee Stutheit, age 74, passed away, in the graces of God, on December 9th, 2020.  Gary had been a resident of Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn Nebraska since November of 2019.

Gary Lee Stutheit was born on October 10, 1946 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Emery John and Betty Mae (Blagdon) Stutheit.  He attended school and graduated from the Brock High School with the Class of 1964.  He then attended Peru State College where he was a member of the Bobcat Track Team.

He entered the United States Army on August 1, 1966 and was later discharged; returning to the Nebraska Army National Guard.

Gary was married to Kathleen Jean "Kathy" Simpson in February of 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Hamburg, IA.  From this relationship, they had three boys; Damon, Shad, and Cody.

Gary will always be remembered for attending his boys sporting events, attending race car events, and his love for farming.  On a Friday or Saturday night you could always find Gary at one of the regional stock car races. Gary spent most of his younger years working at a meat packing plant and spent most of the rest of his life farming and driving an over-the-road truck.  He always enjoyed a good conversation with his friends at Epler’s Mercantile in Julian, NE in his younger years.  As much as Gary enjoyed farming, he always said it would be the “death of him”.

Gary was a life-long member of Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage, Nebraska. Gary will be missed greatly and is preceded in death by his father Emery Stutheit and grandson Trevin Stutheit.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother Betty (Blagdon) Stutheit of Nebraska City, sister Barb Rader (Brad) of Shell Knob Mo., sons: Damon Stutheit (Micki) of Nebraska City NE, Shad Stutheit (Kim) of Lincoln NE, Cody Stutheit (Heidi) of Talmage NE; grandkids: Jarred Stutheit (Shanda) of Auburn NE, Kylie Stutheit of Lincoln NE, Conner Stutheit and Colten Stutheit of Lincoln NE, Makenna Stutheit, Cadyn Stutheit, and Emerson Stutheit of Talmage NE, and great-granddaughter Oaklynn Stutheit of Auburn.

In honoring Gary's wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to the Gary Stutheit Family in care of: Shad Stutheit, 9700 Raymond Rd, Lincoln NE 68517.
