Gary Dean White

A graveside memorial service for Gary D. White, 70, Hamburg, will be at 1:00 on Saturday November 8th, 2025 at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg with a luncheon to follow at “The Center” in Hamburg. Gary passed away Saturday, November 1st, 2025 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA. Gary White was born May 1, 1955, to his parents, Frank and Genevieve (Dorr) White in Norfolk NE. He graduated from Madison High School in 1973. Then, he continued farming with his father and pursued various careers in excavation and dirt work; including having a business of his own.

Gary was a devoted antique John Deere collector and admirer. Over the years, he was a member of various clubs including; The Rae Valley Heritage Club, The Classic Green Reunion which he served as a board of director for, The Northeast Nebraska Two Cylinder Club where he served as president for several years. He was also heavily involved in his community, both in Hamburg and Madison. Gary was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Madison, NE. He also was a member of the Madison community club. 

Gary lived and farmed in Madison, on his family's acreage that his great-grandfather homesteaded around 1876. On April 25th, 2009, Gary married Linda Mitchell in Madison. Following their marriage, in 2016, they moved to Hamburg to help provide care to Linda’s parents. After the move, Gary created a new home and became involved throughout the Hamburg community; including The Hamburg Charter School Board, Kiwanis, and New Life Church. During the Flood of 2019 Gary helped anyone he could evacuate, get supplies, and sandbag.  He loved to work on his John Deere Tractors and spend time at Wildcat Welding where he was known as the “shop grandpa”. Gary will be remembered for his kindness and friendship to all. 

Gary is survived by his wife Linda White, son Johnathan (Tiffany) White of Madison, NE,  step-daughter Kim (Aaron) Ashlock of Hamburg, IA, brother Glen (Sheryl) White of Madison; niece, nephew, and grandchildren. 

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Genevieve (Dorr) White.

There will also be a Celebration of Life for Gary at a later date in Madison, NE.
