Forrest H. Driever, age 94 of Sidney, IA passed away on August 28, 2023 at Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA.
Forrest Herman Driever was born on March 25, 1929 in Sidney, IA; the son of Raymond William and Sophie Edith (Nook) Driever. He grew up and attended school in Sidney where he graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1946.
He entered the United States Army on June 12, 1951 and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1953.
On October 28, 1951, Forrest was united in marriage to Enola L. Woods in Hamburg, IA and to this union three children were born: Alan, Steve and Joy. Enola preceded him in death in 2003. He later enjoyed many years with longtime companion Rose Moyer.
Forrest was a lifelong farmer and also worked at Eaton Transmission Plant in Shenandoah. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion, the VFW, and the Eagles. He loved the outdoors and working in his garden and with horses. He enjoyed having dinner at the Sidney Senior Center and proudly served as the President until his 94th birthday.
He is survived by his children: Alan Driever (Liza) of Jamesport, MO, Steve Driever (Janet) of Eau Claire, WI and Joy Miller (Dave) of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Adam Driever (Beth), Sarah Driever (Ang), Nick Driever, Peter Driever, Justin (Audrey) Driever, Caleb Driever, Shelbie (Cody) Gibson, Eric Miller, Anne (David) Dorn, Seth Propp, Jarrod Propp, Kaitlyn Kelley and Kaleb Kelley; 13 great-grandchildren; bonus family of Rose Moyer: Cheryl Hamula, Sandra Adkins, and Robert Moyer (Janice); other family and friends.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents; wife Enola and companion Rose Moyer; siblings: Mildred Driever and Wayne Driever.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA. Burial will follow at Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, IA with Military Honors conducted by the Hamburg American Legion.
The family will greet from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday (8/30) at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Sidney Senior Center.
