Evette Kay (Housh) Vanderwal

Evette K. Vanderwal, age 70 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, NE.

Evette Kay Vanderwal was born on November 4, 1953 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Robert Percy and Berneil Edith (Martacho) Housh.  She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City. 

She worked many years as a waitress at the former American Legion Club in Nebraska City.  Evette also worked at the The Fort and most recently at Cargill until her retirement. 

Evette married Richard Lee Vanderwal on May 5, 1981 in Nebr. City, NE.  He preceded her in death on June 21, 2018.

She is survived by her son Chad Housh and wife Amy of Auburn, NE; six grandchildren:  Michael Housh, Rebecca Housh, Rachel (Jake) Hutton, Travis (Colby) Rogman, Corey (Brooke) Himes and Trey Catlett; three great-grandchildren:  Whitley, Sage and Briar Lane Hutton; siblings:  Robert (Barbara) Housh of Nebr. City, Steve (Lorreen) Housh of Nebr. City, Denise Housh of Auburn, NE and Alan (Pam) Housh of Nebr. City; 12 nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Evette was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Roger Housh.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday (12/27) at the mortuary.
