Evelyn E. (Bohlen) Sydow

Evelyn E. Sydow, age 86 of Syracuse, NE (formerly Percival, IA) passed away on Tuesday morning; September 3, 2024 at BryanLGH West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Evelyn Elaine (Bohlen) Sydow was born on August 29, 1938 at Percival, IA; the daughter of Arnold and Isal (Moyer) Bohlen.  She attended school in Percival, IA and later in Sidney, IA where she graduated from the Sidney High School.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Dale Sydow on March 23, 1958 at her parent’s home in Percival.  They celebrated 64 years of their lives together prior to Stanley’s death on August 12, 2022. 

Evelyn worked for many years at the former Montgomery Ward Department Store in Nebraska City.  She later worked alongside her husband Stan on the farm.  She loved to sew, quilt and cook; but her greatest love was her granddaughter Danelle and great-grandchildren Emma and Zane.

She is survived by her son Scott A. Sydow of Nebr. City, NE; granddaughter Danelle Owens and husband Steve of Syracuse, NE; great-grandchildren Emma Owens and Zane Owens; siblings:  Esther “Babe” McCown of Nebr. City and Charlie Bohlen and wife Patty of Sidney, IA; daughter-in-law Rhonda Yost of Syracuse, NE; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

In honoring her wishes, there will be no formal services held.
