Eugene Rockafellow Obituary

Eugene E. Rockafellow, 79, of Rock Port, MO, passed away at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026.

Eugene Edward Rockafellow (lovingly known as Rocky) was born on April 20, 1946, in Worcester, NY, the son of Edward and Reita (Ostrander) Rockafellow. He attended school in Franklin, New Jersey, graduating with the class of 1964.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force in October of 1965 and honorably served his country for 28 years, retiring in 1993 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. While in the Air Force, he worked mainly in administration, a position that took him to many places around the world.

Eugene was united in marriage to Karen Romyns on April 21, 1966, and the two spent over 59 years together. He was an avid fast-pitch softball player, where he pitched, and he also enjoyed coaching youth sports, especially soccer, basketball, and baseball. In his later years, he enjoyed golfing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Karen Rockafellow of Rock Port, MO; children: Michael Rockafellow of Omaha, NE, and Susan (Doug) Bare of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Jacob and Austin Rockafellow, Emily (Mark) Staley, and Sydney Bare; two sisters, Donna and Bonnie; as well as other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jay Rockafellow.

A graveside service will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the Omaha National Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
