Erma Maie Hudnall was born December 24, 1925 in Washita County, Oklahoma to William Daniel Schmidt and Elizabeth (Hinz) Krause Schmidt. She passed away in Nebraska City, Nebraska, on January 10, 2021 at the age of 95 from Covid-19.
Her family lived in Oklahoma until they moved to York, Nebraska when she was a small child. They soon moved to Bradshaw, Nebraska where Erma attended school and graduated from Bradshaw High School, class of 1943. She met WWII Navy Veteran, Albert E. (Bert) Hudnall in Bradshaw, and they were married February 14, 1948 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They made their home in Bradshaw until they moved to Aurora, Nebraska in 1963. Bert, a Burlington Northern Agent, passed away on August 12, 1997.
Erma worked at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora for several years. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering at the hospital thrift shop. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary. Erma was a member of the United Methodist Church and Assembly of God churches in Aurora. She and Bert enjoyed many years at their cabin on a lake near the Platte River.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert; two half-brothers, Arnold and Carl Krause; a half sister, Elizabeth “Bette” Krause McIntosh; and a sister, Esther Schmidt Snyder. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Gary (Nancy) Hudnall of Percival, Iowa, Mark (Pat) Hudnall of Walton, Nebraska, and Margo (Denny) Stenson of Ramsey, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren, Troy Hudnall of Owensville, Missouri, Michelle (Michael) Beard of Percival, Iowa, Eric (Delanie) Hudnall of Columbus, Nebraska, Melissa (Chip) Chambers of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Brandy (Nathan) May of Anoka, Minnesota; and 12 great grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Plainfield Cemetery in Bradshaw, NE with Pastor Jim Garfield officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Morton Place in Nebraska City.
