Eric M. Finke, age 51 of rural Riverton, IA (formerly Nebr. City) passed away at his home.
Eric Merton Finke was born on April 20, 1973 in Beatrice, NE; the son of Merton R. and Judith A. (Whigham) Finke. His family soon moved to Nebraska City where Eric attended school. As a youth, Eric enjoyed running and wrestling. Eric graduated from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1991, and participated in football. He then attended Peru State College.
Eric worked on various construction projects over the years. He advanced from an apprentice to journeyman during his career and was a long-time member of the Omaha Construction Industry Union. During his working years, he was involved in the construction of numerous structures in Omaha and the surrounding area.
He was also an avid outdoorsman! His favorite times were spent fishing, hunting, watching sunsets, spotting wildlife, and enjoying the beauty of nature. He cherished moments of laughter with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter Samantha Finke of Papillion, NE and granddaughter Lux Parrish; his mom Judith Finke Schreiner of Clarinda, IA; sisters: Gretchen Finke Patras (Steve) of Elkhorn, NE and Ingrid Kelley (Trevor) of Clearmont, MO; nieces and nephews: Lauren, Jace and Jennae Patras and Carissa Searl (Colton), Donevan Kelley (Carly) and Skylar Kelley; great nieces and nephews: Kyler, Kate, Koe and Nora; step-siblings Kelly Schreiner, Kris Lutz, and Rob (Sally) Schreiner; aunts, uncles, cousins, and his loyal dog Charlie Brown.
Eric was preceded in death by his dad Merton Finke, stepdad Robert Schreiner, and his grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Finke of Tecumseh, NE and Clarence and Bessie Whigham of Coin, IA, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Memorials may be directed to the family for the future education of his granddaughter Lux Parrish.
