Elsie Louise Foster

Elsie L. (Patton) Foster, age 92 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Grape Community Hospital in Hamburg, IA.

Elsie Louise Foster was born to Jesse Ford and Rachael (Maness) Patton on September 11, 1930 in Red Star Holler, Missouri.  She spent her childhood days attending country schools in the Rock Port area.  On January 29, 1948, Elsie married Wayne Perry.  She became the mother of Ronnie, Randy, Roger, Karen, Robert and Anita.  They raised their family in Northwest Missouri and Southwest Iowa.

Many people knew Elsie for her love of cooking and baking.  She worked at numerous restaurants over the years and even from her own kitchen.  Elsie was known for her delicious pies she made for the holidays.  Elsie also enjoyed her family and spending every holiday with them.  She passed her love of home cooking and holidays to her children and many grandchildren.  When you couldn’t find Elsie in a kitchen you would find her at the casino.  Her family will tell you that her collections of trinkets were interesting.  Elsie loved collecting salt and pepper shakers, dolls, and dogs.  Elsie loved shopping, visiting with her sisters, Bud Light, and BINGO.

Elsie was the matriarch of a very large and loving family.  She is preceded in death by her first husband Wayne Perry, her husband Don Foster, son Randy Perry Sr, and granddaughters Amy and Jennifer; sisters:  Betty Kirk, Bessie Patton, Hattie Mae Chastain, Marie Daugherty, Tressie Hart, and brother Arley Patton. 

Elsie is survived by her sister Rosie McConnell (Hooter); her children:  Ronnie Perry (Karen), Roger Perry, Karen Allumbaugh (Darrell), Robert Perry and Anita Shelton (Herb).  She leaves behind her 16 loving grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and extended family.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.  Burial will follow at the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IA.

The family will greet friends on Monday (11/21) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
