Edna Martin

Edna (Eddie) Lorene Martin passed away peacefully in Laguna Hills, California on April 10, 2025, at the age of 94.

She was born as one of 5 girls from Raymond and Geneva Hilger. Eddie graduated from Hamburg High School in 1947 and Peru State College in 1966 with a degree in Education. She taught remedial reading at Hamburg Elementary School and Junior High at Glenwood, Nebraska. After a successful career in education, Eddie went on to work as a residential real estate agent in Omaha.

In 1986, Eddie moved to Laguna Hills, California to be near her daughter, Janet, and family. After over 15 years of working for her son-in-law, Jay, she retired. After retirement she enjoyed golf, reading, traveling and entertaining family and friends.

A true free spirit, Eddie was an independent, strong and loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by: One daughter Janet Martin Estep Laguna Hills, California, and one son Jim Martin Summerville, South Carolina.

5 Grandchildren: Greg Estep Charlotte, Vermont, Lesley Estep Stump Aliso Viejo, California, Michael Martin Mesa, Arizona, Brenton Martin Justin, Texas, and Jalisa Martin Tempe, Arizona.

And 12 Great Grandchildren

Service to be held May 15, 2025, at 10am at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, Iowa. Lunch to be served at the Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
