Dorothy F. "Dotty" Miedl

Dorothy F. “Dotty” Miedl, age 83 (formerly of Nebr. City) passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, NE.

Dorothy Frances Miedl was born on December 23, 1942 in Altoona, PA; the daughter of George F. and Florence A. (Forester) Miedl.  Her family later moved to Nebraska.

Dotty worked at various jobs in addition to raising her children, Cheryl, Wade, Carman and Karena.  She worked at Tip Top Products Factory (for hair accessories) in Omaha, picked fruit in Walla Walla, WA when she lived on the West Coast and was featured on PBS Television with her children’s puppet show.  She was a devout Christian woman with a deep faith.  Dotty was one who made everyone feel loved and like family and she was “grandma” to many. 

She is survived by her children: Cheryl Horne of Auburn, NE, Wade Warren (Jacque) of Auburn, NE, Carman Mann of Julian, NE and Karena Reeves (Brett) of Peru, NE; 16 grandchildren: Juanita Horne, Shawn Warren, Shelby Warren, Sarah Warren, Daniel Strobel, Dustin Strobel, Derrek Mann, Brittni Willis, Sara Doty, Tamra Reeves, Brett Reeves Jr., Leanna Reeves, Ashley Reeves, Billy Black, Jimmy Black and Katrina Black; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; siblings: Fred Miedl of Omaha, NE, George Miedl of Omaha, NE and Garry Miedl of Las Vegas, NV,  other family and many friends.

Dotty was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Robert Hass and two sisters: Theresa Mayall (Tex) and Florence Delong (Walter).

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends on Tuesday (4/14) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorials may be given to the Dementia Society of America.
