Doris Marie (Wall) Gherman

Doris M. Gherman, age 89, of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022 at Prestige Care Center in Nebraska City. 

Doris Marie Gherman was born on December 7, 1932 in Ashton, NE; the daughter of John T. and Agnes V. (Trubl) Wall.  She started her schooling in 1938 and attended Ashton Public Schools.  She later attended school in Loup City, NE and graduated from Loup City High School with the Class of 1951.

On November 2, 1965, Doris was united in marriage to Robert W. Gherman in Wahoo, NE.  The couple lived in O’Neill, McCook, and Central City before moving to Nebraska City in February of 1978.  Doris was a housewife and homemaker and helped her husband repairing shoes, cowboy boots and saddles.  They also worked on upholstery during this time.  They sold their business, Robert’s Shoe Repair, in Nebraska City in 1980.  After Bob suffered a stroke in 1985, they entered the Nebr. City Manor in March of 1986.  She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Nebraska City.

Doris is survived by her Prestige Care Center family and special friend Beverly Hall of Nebraska City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert on October 27, 1997, brother Herman Wall and sister Eva Elsie Wilson.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday; August 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Prestige Care Center in Nebraska City with Pastor Michael Schmidt officiating.   The burial will be held on Wednesday at the Warsaw Cemetery near St. Paul, NE where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband Bob.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church in Nebraska City.
