Doreen Janet Hume

Doreen J. Hume, age 80 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City. 

Doreen Janet Hume was born on March 2, 1943 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Mattie Viola Murphy.  She attended school in Nebraska City, NE and Nehawka, NE.  She married Dean Hume and they shared 47 years together raising their sons Tom, Todd and Jeff.  Dean passed away on August 11, 2020.

She was a loving wife and mom who devoted her life to caring and supporting her son Tom and the entire family.

Doreen is survived by her sons:  Todd Hume and wife Vicki of Beaver Lake and Jeff Hume and wife Shawntel of Nebraska City; four grandchildren:  Emily Molloy (Sean) of Fairbury, NE, Ben Hume of Beaver Lake, Audrey Cavanaugh (Eric) of Papillion, NE and Jasmine McKittrick of Nebr. City, NE; two great-grandchildren:  Graham Molloy and Sylvia Molloy; brother Lennie Lahman (Dianne) of York, NE, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Tom Hume on June 22, 2008 and sisters: Donetta Weible, Imogene Weik, Marvena Kolb, and Patsy DeFreece.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.   Burial will be in the Wyuka Cemetery at Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 on Wednesday (8/16) at Gude Mortuary.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
