Donald Lee Crouse

Donald L. Crouse, age 94 of Sidney, IA passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Ambassador in Sidney, IA.

Donald Lee Crouse was born on January 7, 1931 in Fremont County, Iowa; the son of Sylvester Lee and Mildred (Walker) Crouse.  He grew up in Fremont County Iowa area where he graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1948. 

Donald was united in marriage to Lois McLaughlin on January 27, 1951 in Sidney, IA.  Donald was a lifelong farmer, farming around Hamburg until his retirement. He loved fishing in the Missouri river with friends, and also enjoyed making beautiful furniture pieces using cedar found in the Loess Bluffs near his home.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Lois Crouse of Sidney, IA; daughters:  Rosa Burgess (Rick) of Hamburg, IA and Paula Young of Magnolia, TX; three grandchildren:  Paul Knight (Jessica) of Arlington, TX, Jamie Gouldman (Jason) of Magnolia, TX and Jake Berckenhoff (Kaushatta) of Magnolia, TX; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mary Lou Walker of Texas, Gretchen Crouse of Orlando, FL, and Joan Crouse of Tampa, FL; other family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers:  Carl Crouse and Duane Crouse.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA with Pastor James Burnette officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery in Hamburg, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hamburg Fire & Rescue.
