Dolores M (Vollmann) Wallace

Dolores M. (Vollmann) Wallace, age 88 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebr. City.

Dolores was born on August 3, 1930 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Herman and Nellie (Sumner) Vollmann.  She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City High School with the class of 1948.  After high school, Dolores worked at Russell Stover’s in Lincoln.

On November 20, 1955, Dolores was united in marriage to Harold Don Wallace at the First United Methodist Church in Nebr. City.  For a time they moved around, eventually settling back in Nebraska City, where they raised their children:  Jeryl and Don.  Dolores worked at the Fourteenth Street School in Nebr. City and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years.  In her free time, she enjoyed playing BINGO and going to auctions.

She is survived by her children:  Jeryl Hellerich and husband Richard of Schuyler, NE and Don Wallace of Nebr. City, NE; seven grandchildren:  Dallan Wallace, Joshua Hellerich (Shanna), Jeremy Hellerich (Lydia), Shanee Hamilton (Brad), Ryann Wallace (Charlotte), Nicole Hellerich, and Justin Wallace; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters:  Ruby Vollmann of Auburn, NE, Norleen Brown of Nebr. City, NE and Mary Ashenfelter and husband Don of Nebr. City, NE; other family and friends.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Harold Wallace on Dec. 2, 1989, her parents and siblings: Zena Wright, Herman Vollmann, Lester Vollmann and Hazel Vollmann (infant sister).

Memorials may be given to St. Jude’s Hospital in memory of Dolores.
