Debra Travis Obituary

Debra Kay (Lord) Travis, age 70 of Sidney, IA passed away surrounded by family and love.  She was born in Hamburg, IA and grew up in Sidney, where she made lifelong friends and many cherished memories.

Debra was the beloved wife of Steven Donald Travis and together they shared nearly 52 wonderful years of marriage, having wed on December 7, 1973.  She was a devoted and selfless mother to Lynde Beth Travis of Lincoln, NE and Reese Lee Travis (Bradley Sala) of Council Bluffs, IA, and a proud grandmother to McKynna Kay Brogan, Lynden Louis Brogan, Brydon James Huntley and Tayleigh Reese Huntley.  Her joy only grew with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Taydon Lee Wilder Brogan and Ryverlynn Eliza Kay Smith.  She is also survived by brother Jason Lord (Sue) of Carroll, IA.

Debra was the cherished daughter of late Duane Eugene and Conda Kay (Boone) Lord.  She was also preceded in death by brother Rick Lord and sister Karen Lord.

In her younger years Debra loved being part of the school marching band, especially during rodeo week, and enjoyed playing basketball in high school.  Shortly after graduation, she and Steve married and began a life filled with adventure and togetherness~traveling to South Dakota for hunting trips and fishing whenever they had free time, whether at a pond or the river.  She took great pride in deer hunting with her muzzleloader, providing for her family alongside Steve.  Over the years, Deb did secretarial work for various businesses in and around Sidney.

As her children grew, Debra’s lifelong love for horses returned.  She and Steve supported their children’s involvement in speed events and spent many joyful summers traveling the Four Rivers Horse Show Circuit.

A woman of many talents, Debra loved crocheting slippers and potholders for family and friends, sharing her warmth and creativity with everyone around her.  She had a gift for conversation, a quick wit, and radiant smile that could light up any room.  Debra’s faith guided her throughout her life, and she found deep joy in time spent with family~especially playing cards, laughing at reunions, and celebrating life’s simple moments together.

Debra will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  Her legacy of kindness, laughter and love will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
