Darla L. (Kulwicki) Wachter

Darla L. Wachter, age 68 of Nebraska City passed away on September 9, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE.

Darla was born on November 2, 1952 in Lincoln, NE; the daughter of Robert Eugene and Eleanor Louise (Spader) Kulwicki.  She attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1971.

Darla was united in marriage to Norman C. Wachter on December 29, 1989 at Oregon, MO.  He preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2014.

She was currently working at Region V Services.  She started working there on Feb. 15, 2016 and remained until her passing.  She also worked at American Meter, Arnie’s Bagelicious, NCHS (student lunch program) and Oriental Trading Company.  Darla loved to bake, play cards and Yahtzee.  She also loved dogs and children.

She is survived by her sons:  Scott Rhoads of Sioux City, IA, Roger Rhoads of Nebr City and Robert Rhoads of Lincoln, NE; brothers:  William Kulwicki (Lila) and Ronald Kulwicki (Lori) both of Lincoln, NE; step-children:  Laura Wachter, Christine Rice (Robert), Michael Wachter (Shelly) and Brian Wachter (Amy); step-grandchildren:  Benjamin and Rachel Rice, Tanner, Mitchell (Alex), Cordell, Anna, Kirsten, Aiden and Abby Wachter; step-great grandsons:  Brenden Rice and Theodore Wachter; other family and many friends.

In addition to her husband Norman, she was preceded in death by her father Robert E. Kulwicki, mother and step-father Eleanor (Ralph) Neujahr, brother James Kulwicki and step-grandson Jacob Rice.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  Inurnment will be held at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
