Darla Denise Owens

Darla D. Owens, age 65, of Syracuse, NE passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at her home.

Darla Denise Owens was born on October 29, 1956 in Hayward, CA; the daughter of Robert E. Bowersmith and Emma I. (Faler) Hall. 

She was united in marriage to Donald Owens on February 2, 1973 in Hot Springs, AR.  He preceded her in death on July 20, 2014.

Darla worked at American Meter for 12 years before retiring in 2010.  She had also previously worked at Norman’s IGA.  She dearly loved Christmas, enjoyed bowling, and going to the casino; but her greatest love was her family!

She is survived by her children:  Mike Owens (Kris) of Hubert, NC, Raymond Owens (Naomi Patterson) of Dunbar, NE, Crystal Fossberg (Lucas) of Lincoln, NE and Stephen Owens (Danielle) of Syracuse, NE; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings:  Everett Bowersmith (Sherri) of Unadilla, NE, Dale Bowersmith of Nebr. City, Milton Hall of Tulsa, OK, Gail Parks (Duane) of Dunbar, NE and Ed “Chip” Hall Jr. of Auburn, NE; other family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Darla was preceded in death by her daughter Donnell Owens, grandson William Owens, daughter-in-law Lora Owens, sister Karen Bray and sister-in-law Cindy Bowersmith.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at the Dunbar (Delaware) Cemetery southwest of Dunbar, NE. 

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (4/15) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  The casket will be open for immediate family only.
