DarLynn "Pat" Patricia Meek

DarLynn P. “Pat” Meek, age 82, of Bellevue, NE (formerly of Hamburg, IA), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Brookestone Village in Omaha.

Pat was born July 30, 1943, in Nebraska City, NE, the daughter of Leonard and Eloise (Ryder) Doherty. Her childhood took her family briefly to California before returning home to Nebraska City, where she graduated from Lourdes Central Catholic with the Class of 1961.

On February 19, 1962, Pat married the love of her life, John C. “Jack” Meek, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters—Kimberly, Paula, and Danielle. Pat and Jack made their home in Hamburg, where Pat worked for many years as a legal secretary at Johnson Law Firm.

Faith was a steady presence in Pat’s life. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City and later Corpus Christi – Queen of Apostles in Council Bluffs. She had a natural gift for creativity and found joy in tending flowers and gardening. Pat also loved arts and crafts, and during her time at Harmony Court in Bellevue, she started a coloring club that brought creativity and companionship to her fellow residents.

Above all, Pat was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother who cherished every moment spent with those she loved.

Left to honor her memory are her daughters: Kimberly (Brad) Alley‑Wright of Elkhorn, NE; Paula Kyle of Council Bluffs, IA; and Danielle (Jason) Kight of Omaha, NE; along with 10 grandchildren, 7 great‑grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, on December 6, 2022; and her brother, Leo Doherty.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
