Connie D. Finley

Connie D. Finley, age 87, formerly of Nebraska City passed away on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2025 at Oxbow Memory Care in Ashland, NE.

Connie was born on November 27, 1937 in Filley, NE; the daughter of Ernest and Doris (Brittain) Harms.  The family later moved to Tecumseh, NE where she graduated from Tecumseh High School.  She later attended the Lincoln School of Commerce earning her degree.

Connie was married to LaVerne “Slick” Baucke and to this union two daughters were born:  Tamela and LuAnn.  They later divorced.  She was united in marriage to Charles “Chuck” Finley on December 2, 1983 in Nebraska City, NE.  He preceded her in death on September 22, 2010.

Connie worked at the State of Nebraska Unemployment Office in Nebraska City for several years.  She also worked in home health care for Syracuse Memorial Hospital and Tabitha Healthcare in Lincoln, NE.

Connie loved birds and was an avid supporter and member of Bluebirds Across Nebraska and the North American Bluebird Society.  When she lived in Nebraska City she was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for many years.

She is survived by her daughters:  Tamela “Tammy” Secord of Syracuse, NE and her son Jeffrey Casey (fiancé Leah McClure) and LuAnn Snyder (Mitchell) of Lincoln, NE and their two daughters:  Erin Zimmerman (Michael) and children Lucy, Henry and Zoey, and Mandy Freeman (Nick); step-sons:  Gregg Finley (Mary) of Omaha, NE and Doug Finley (Michelle) of Omaha, NE; nieces, other family and friends.

In addition to her husband Chuck Finley, Connie was preceded in death by a stillborn son Leslie Baucke; son-in-law James Secord and step-sons:  John Finley and David Finley as well as her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thurs. (7/10) at the mortuary.
