Claire M. Esser, age 73 of Nebraska City passed away Saturday morning; August 1, 2026 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.
Claire Marie (Thissen) Esser was born on January 25, 1953 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City; the second daughter of Joseph and Laura (Finck) Thissen. She attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from Lourdes Central High School with the Class of 1971. She attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and later Peru State College, Peru, NE.
She was united in marriage to Randy Esser at the family home in Nebraska City. The couple later divorced.
Claire worked for several years at the Pendleton Woolen Mills factory in Nebraska City. She later drove the Handi Bus in and around Nebraska City for many years.
She is survived by her significant other Allen Weible of Nebraska City; sisters: Mary Ann Lutz and husband Emil of Lee’s Summit, MO and Joan Cook and husband Jim of rural Nebraska City; her beloved English Bulldogs and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Thissen and her mother Laura (Thissen) McGuire.
Private family graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City where she will be laid to rest with her parents Joe and Laura.
