Carole O'Neil Obituary

Carole was born in Ronan, MT, in 1936, and later moved into the house her father built in Forsyth, MT. She attended Montana State College (now Montana State University) in the 1950s where she pledged Pi Beta Phi. Carole married Robert O’Neil in 1957, and the following years brought three children, as well as various stateside and European assignments with the US Air Force. Carole and Bob eventually settled in Papillion, NE, in 1982. 
 
Carole earned a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and worked at Creighton University and the Omaha VA Medical Center as a registered dietitian. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, travel, theatre, regular walks, and a good book. Carole was a hard worker, known for her energy, kindness, and service to her community; she led an active life until the very end, and her passing was unexpected. 
 
Carole is preceded in death by her husband Col. Robert O’Neil; parents Art and Ethel Kamhoot of Forsyth, MT; sister and brother-in-law Pat and Gary Heath of Grand Junction, CO; and brother-in-law Daryl Heskin of Lone Tree, CO. Carole is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Col. Barry and Jo Kamhoot of Albuquerque, NM; sister Karen Heskin of Lone Tree, CO; three children: Scott O’Neil (Jan) of Dunbar, NE; Janet O’Neil Clark (David) of Williamsburg, VA; Stuart O’Neil (Leslie) of Lawrence, KS; and six grandchildren: James, Katie, Daniel, Patrick, Elizabeth, and Anna. 
 
Memorial services and inurnment for Carole will be at Omaha National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. on January 12, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole’s name may be sent to the Federated Church of Forsyth: 1180 Cedar St. Forsyth, MT 59327.
