Bobby Joe Barton

Bobby J. Barton, age 96 of Shenandoah, IA (formerly rural Sidney, IA) passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Homestead Assisted Living of Shenandoah.

Bobby Joe Barton was born on September 27, 1928 in Hamburg, IA; the son of Roy and Pearl (Kellogg) Barton.  He attended school in Sidney and graduated from Sidney High School in 1946.

Bob was united in marriage to Doris Porter in 1953 at the Church of Christ in Hamburg, IA.  He was a life long farmer, a job he truly loved.  He was the last living member of the Riverton Odd Fellows before it permanently closed.  He was also a life-time member of the Eagles Club.  Bob and Doris loved to ballroom dance and enjoyed many dances over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris Barton of Shenandoah, IA; son Robert Barton and wife Chris of rural Sidney, IA; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Private Family Graveside Inurnment Service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the Homestead Activity Fund at Homestead Assisted Living of Shenandoah.
