Betty M. Stutheit, age 96 of Nebraska City passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. She had entered the Ambassador in October of 2019.
Betty Mae Eileen (Blagdon) Stutheit was born on April 16, 1924 in Julian, NE; the daughter of Clarence “Skinny” and Louise “Lula” (Beccard) Blagdon. Betty was an only child to this union. She was baptized at the United Brethren Church in Julian, NE and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Talmage, NE.
Betty attended elementary school in Julian. At age seven, her family moved to a farm west of Julian, where Betty finished elementary and graduated from Brock High School in 1942.
She was united in marriage to Emery J. Stutheit on January 15, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Talmage, NE and to this union two children were born: son Gary Lee Stutheit and daughter Barbara Ann (Stutheit) Rader.
Betty and Emery raised their family on farms in the Julian, Talmage, Peru and Dunbar areas where Emery farmed and Betty worked at American Meter Plant for 31 ½ years. After retirement, Betty did volunteer work at the local nursing homes. Betty and Emery lived in Nebraska City after retirement. She loved doing crafts, painting and going shopping. The family enjoyed summer vacations and going to stock car races on the weekends. Many weekends were spent with family gatherings.
She had a love for dogs and her dog “Cowboy” was her companion for many years. Betty enjoyed life and visiting with her neighbor friends. She always said how good they all were to her, with visits and food and how she so appreciated it.
Betty is survived by her daughter Barbara Rader (Brad) of Shell Knob, MO; grandchildren: Damon Stutheit (Micki) of Nebr. City, NE, Shad Stutheit (Kim) of Lincoln, NE, Cody Stutheit (Heidi Jensen) of Talmage, NE, Dr. Travis Rader (Halel) of Nixa, MO, Traid Rader (Robin) of Lincoln, NE and Tirsa (Rader) Sinclair (Jonathan) of Auburn, IL; nine great grandchildren: Jarred Stutheit (Shanda), Kylie Stutheit, Conner Stutheit, Colten Stutheit, Makenna Stutheit, Cadyn Stutheit, Emmerson Stutheit, Abigail Sinclair and Giada Sinclair; two great-great grandchildren: Asher Nelson and Oakland Stutheit; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Emery Stutheit on Dec. 16, 1998, son Gary Stutheit, great grandson Trevin Stutheit, parents, grandparents, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City with Pastor Kate Woolf officiating.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, (3/21) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
