Bernice Ann (Rightsell) Vogel

Bernice Ann (Rightsell) Vogel, 76, of Hamburg, IA passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Pleasant View Care Center in Rock Port, MO.

Bernice was born on January 31, 1945 in Hamburg, IA, the daughter of Glenn and Gertrude (Harbin) Rightsell. She grew up in Hamburg and attended Hamburg Schools, graduating from Hamburg High School with the class of 1962. She attended Anthis Beauty School in Nebraska City and Council Bluffs.

She was united in marriage to David Vogel on December 26, 1965 in Hamburg and to this union 2 sons were born: Dennis and Jason.

She worked for Carl's Beauty Shop as a cosmetologist off and on for some 30 years before retiring in 1992. She loved to attend her sons' school activities and help on the farm. She taught water aerobics at the Hamburg pool for many years and was an avid collector of all things beautiful, mainly dolls and plates. She was a “regular” at Stoners Drug Store and was a creative person with a love for sewing, art, crafts, and decorating.

Bernice is survived by her husband David Vogel of Hamburg, IA; sons: Dennis and wife Suzanne of Urbandale, IA, and Jason and wife Michelle of Festus, MO; grandchildren: Benjamin, Jessica, Riley, Cole, and Grace; brother Bill Rightsell and wife Tinkle of Salem, IN; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday (8/27) at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg, IA.
